Not Sure How to Clean Your Tinted Windows - Read This!

Tinted windows provide benefits, including privacy for the interior of your home or office, protection for the interior and exterior of your property, and a sleeker look for the exterior of your home or office, among others. All of that said, however, cleaning them can be quite tricky for many people to figure out.

Tinted House Windows: When Is Cleaning Necessary?

Contrary to what some may think, tinted house windows are not very far from the cleaning that regular windows go through. Cleaning window tint is not that different from cleaning regular window glass. Although the tinted version is darker, it’s done less often because light stains are harder to notice due to the dark tint. You shouldn’t expect to need to clean tinted windows unless a strong event, like a wild party, makes them dirty.

Tint that was recently installed, on the other hand, should be given curing time. That’s often around the circumstances of a month (four weeks), at the very least. It’s the only way the tint will stick to the glass adequately. Cleaning it before this period of curing passes will end up triggering bubbles between the glass and the film layer.

Aside from the bubbles looking rather off-putting, the tint’s lifespan can also be shortened considerably. That way, the film itself will likely peel much sooner than it was meant to.

Tinted Window Cleaning: the Vital Steps

  1. Create a cleaning solution. (Mix 3 tablespoons of vinegar, 2 cups of water, half a teaspoon of liquid dish soap.)
  2. Once the solution is mixed thoroughly, it has to be poured cautiously in a spray bottle.
  3. Apply the solution to the tinted windows using the spray bottle.
  4. Wipe it all off with a microfibre cloth for grime and dust to loosen.
  5. Use a squeegee for the soapy water to be removed from the window.
  6. Eliminate streaks with distilled water and a squeegee, rinsing and drying the windows.
  7. Buff the window with a dry, fresh microfibre cloth.

Conclusion

Tinted window film is incredibly beneficial in terms of privacy, aesthetics and protection of the interior. A common misconception is that cleaning tinted windows varies largely from regular windows. They’re not all that different, though harsh substances should be avoided.
